Permits have been filed to expand a three-story structure into a six-story mixed-use building at 5408 7th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Located between 54th Street and 55th Street, the lot is near the 8th Avenue subway station, served by the N train. Lihua Wu is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 72-foot-tall development will yield 6,373 square feet, with 4,867 square feet designated for residential space and 1,506 square feet for commercial space. The building will have five residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 973 square feet. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar and a 30-foot-long rear yard.
Naresh Mahangu of NY Building Associates is listed as the architect of record.
Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the project calls for a vertical expansion. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
